Stamping Made Easy!

Card Redesigning

by Traci Raether 4 Comments

Have you ever found a card that you want to make, but you don’t have the Designer Series Paper (DSP) or the stamp set that was used? The answer to this dilemma is to do some card redesigning. I will be walking you thru “how to” do card redesigning with three examples. I will be using the Stampin’ Up! Rooted in Nature stamp set and dies with the Forever Greenery and In Good Taste DSP.

I originally designed these cards using the Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Poem DSP which is no longer available. I love the images in the Rooted in Nature stamp set (146482) and Nature’s Roots Framelits (146341) so I looked in our current annual catalog to identify alternative DSP to use to redesign these cards.

Instructions with Cardstock Measurements

  • Use Just Jade cardstock – 5.5 x 8.5, scored at 4 ¼ for the card base.
  • Adhere the Forever Greenery DSP – 4 x 4 to the top of the card front and then add the In Good Taste DSP – 2 7/8 x 4 on top of that. Stamp and die cut the tree image to mount on the card front with Dimensionals (104430).
  • Finish the card by stamping the sentiment with Just Jade Ink (153115) and add a bow on the side of the card with Linen Thread (104199).
  • Add white cardstock inside the card with stamped images, if desired.

Instructions with Cardstock Measurements

  • Use Garden Green cardstock – 5.5 x 8.5, scored at 4 ¼ as the card base.
  • Adhere the Forever Greenery DSP – 4 x 5 ¼ to the card front and then center the stamped Basic White cardstock die cut with the 3 x 4 3/8 stitched rectangle using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits (148551).
  • Stamp the images for the card front and the inside card (Basic White cardstock cut 4 x 5 1/4 with the Soft Suede Ink (147115) and Garden Green Ink (147089).

Instructions with Cardstock Measusrements

  • Creat the card base with Basic White cardstock – 4 ¼ x 11; scored 5 1/2.
  • Glue the Forever Greenery DSP – 4 x 5 ¼ to the card front and then stamp the stitched square 2 1/8 x 2 1/8 die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372) with the sentiment in Shaded Spruce Ink (147088).
  • Add images and/or sentiments to the inside of the card, as desired.

When I dont have the paper shown I check my stach for something simular. Sometimes I like the result better.. Just using the basic idea helps to put a card together.

I especially like the tree card Traci. The very first SU set I bought years ago was Lovely as a Tree and that oak tree I think would work on this card. Thank you for these ideas and instructions.
